SPEECHES, 1961 - 1964 3 boxes 1.2 Linear Feet Final copies of speeches with drafts, notes, and revisions in a few cases. This speech file is not a definitive collection of all the addresses, remarks, and speeches made by Robert F. Kennedy while Attorney General; nor do the folders normally contain the correspondence inviting him to speak or the background material, notes, and drafts used in preparing the final speech copy. However, there are a few folders that are more complete, and several are notable: 3/18/63, speech for theEmancipation Proclamation Centennial; 7/18/63, civil rights testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee; and 8/27/64, introduction to "A Thousand Days" at the 1964 Democratic National Convention. For the correspondence preceeding a speaking engagements refer to the Attorne@ General's General and Personal Correspondence especially for 1961-1962 and to the Invitations Correspondence.
